Michael Ellis, is a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney and was recently awarded an MBA (distinction) from Imperial College London. Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Michael gained a PhD from the University of Nottingham through his research in the field of medicinal chemistry in the synthesis of potential anti-tumour drugs within the Cancer Research Campaign Laboratories, headed by Professor Malcolm Stevens. He obtained a first class honours degree in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh. |
Michael's experience includes the drafting and global prosecution (especially in the UK, Europe and US) of patent applications and representing clients during opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office. The technical subject matter covered includes pharmaceuticals, formulations, medical devices, medical gases and gas separation, chemical and engineering processes, dyes and polymer catalysts, imaging systems, imaging materials, ink-jet technologies and renewable energy systems.
Michael is also a Chartered Chemist and currently serves on the Examining Committee of the European Qualifying Examinations for patent attorneys.
Michael's focus is on assisting clients develop and manage their IP strategy and intellectual assets as well as providing the full range of IP protection, clearance and exploitation services. A key part of his involvement will be to become a part of the team and to help assemble suitably commercially minded advisors.
